Q-CXOLAC1-05L has finally made it up Edelstein Hill. The 8,100-foot train had been dispatched out of Chicago with just two units, a woefully inadequate 1.2 horsepower per ton. That's enough to get the heavy train over the flatlands, but not enough to lift it out of the Illinois River valley. Power was pulled off an eastbound at Chillicothe for the victorious shove up the hill. The episode delayed this CSX-Los Angeles train by three hours - and tied up one of the main tracks on BNSF's busy Transcon.
